The newly launched Good Charities Guide invites charities to join an exclusive discussion on what makes a high impact Australian charity. The Guide, which highlights Australia’s highest quality charities, will be launched in conjunction with Philanthropy Australia in May 2018. Charities who pass an impact audit using a best-practice evaluation framework developed by experts in social impact and philanthropy will appear on the list.
Charities are invited to assist in the design of the framework at a breakfast forum in Melbourne at 8am on the 26th of July, or online at 11am. Click here to register for the breakfast event, or here to register for the online forum.
Nic Bolto, editor of The Good Charities Guide, is releasing the guide in response to an ever-pressing need for third party assurance in the charitable and non-for-profit sector:
“More and more, trust is a blocker to giving. Donors are concerned about where their money goes and if their donation will matter. Those of us who work in the charitable sector are dismayed by media stories about sharp practices that damage the sector’s reputation and the obsession some have with the cost of fundraising. The Good Charities Guide is designed to give donors the assurance they need to know exactly which charities are creating impact.”
The Good Charities Guide has been developed by Nic Bolto and Jessica Bowman. Nic is the former creator and editor of The Difference, a high-end charity guide and Jessica the founder of the charity evaluation social enterprise, The Good Cause Co. They are joined by experts from Philanthropy Australia, Melbourne University, Queensland University of Technology and the US based Impact Matters to put the guide together.
